Cardinals Edge Braves, 3-2

The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Atlanta Braves, 3-2, at Busch Stadium. Leading the charge for St. Louis was shortstop Tommy Edman. He went 4-4 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. St. Louis reliever Trevor Megill picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Kenebell Sevelen absorbed the loss. Evan Phillips was credited with the save for St. Louis, his 11th of the season.
The Cardinals got a big at-bat from catcher Leonardo Bernal. For the game, Bernal was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave St. Louis a 3-2 lead.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Edman said.
With the victory, the Cardinals upped their record to 23-13.
