Blue Jays Drop Phillies, 5-3
|
Philadelphia wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Mick Abel, falling to the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-3. Abel threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Toronto bumps their record to 16-20 with the win.
Toronto used the timely hitting of Alejandro Kirk to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Kirk.
