The Boston Red Sox got a great start from 34-year-old right-hander Fergie Jenkins, as Boston won the contest, 3-2, at Comerica Park. Jenkins threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs in the win, which allowed the Boston to grab a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Boston used the timely hitting of Stan Hack to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"By the skin of our teeth, man," Jenkins told the Boston Observer. "But hey, it still counts. A few more by the skin of our teeth is fine with me."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Comerica Park in Detroit.
