Narrow Win Takes Tampa Bay Streak to 9
|
The Tampa Bay Rays called upon starter Drew Rasmussen, and he delivered, leading his team to victory over the Milwaukee Brewers, 3-2. Rasmussen, now 5-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Mason Montgomery nailed down his 11th save.
Tampa Bay used a clutch hit from Tom Murphy to get the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rays ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Drew is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Tampa Bay manager Michael Jank.
The Rays have hit the ground running, raising their record to 22-10. While it's still too soon to talk about Tampa Bay hoisting their 1st World Series trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
