300th Save for Hader as Red Sox Hold Off Royals
|
In an effort that will possibly punch his ticket to the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, Josh Hader notched his 300th career save today at Kauffman Stadium, leading the Boston Red Sox to a 4-2 triumph over the Kansas City Royals.
Known for his calm demeanor in the heat of competition, the 35-year-old Hader was similarly collected after the game.
"To me it's just a number. I wasn't really nervous or thinking too much about it. I'm just trying to make my pitches and get hitters out," he said. The star reliever allowed 1 hit and no runs, while working 1 innings in recording his milestone save.
Hader has registered 300 saves in his career with a 45-53 record and a 3.12 ERA.
