Cardinals Deal Tigers 7-1 Defeat
|
The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Detroit Tigers, 7-1, at Comerica Park. Nolan Arenado, in particular, was impressive. He went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Tink Hence was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 1 run on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. The loss makes the Tigers 12-18.
With St. Louis leading 4-1 in the top of the seventh, Arenado hit a sinker from Michael Wacha for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 7-1.
Arenado called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
