Marte Stars as Rangers Top Guardians, 7-2
|
The Texas Rangers defeated the Cleveland Guardians, 7-2. Third Baseman Noelvi Marte deserved a large share of the credit. Marte was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Rangers. Mitch Bratt got the win, improving to 2-3. He held the Guardians to 2 runs on 4 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Cleveland now has a record of 18-12.
It could have been a different outcome for Texas, had it not been for Marcus Semien, the 13-year veteran . Semien contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put Texas up, 5-1.
In postgame comments to the Texas Times, Marte said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
