Cardinals Win, Now 11-11
|
The St. Louis Cardinals locked up a win at Busch Stadium, knocking off the Cincinnati Reds, 8-2. On the mound for St. Louis was left-hander Matthew Liberatore. He played a major role in the triumph. Liberatore, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 1 walk. The Reds, now 8-14, continue their poor start.
Jonatan Clase helped out the St. Louis cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the right fielder was 1-3.
Said losing manager David Bell: "Give the Cardinals credit. They took advantage of our mistakes."
