Midland Blanks Corpus Christi, Tasker Winner Tuesday, August 28th , 2046 The Corpus Christi Hooks manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Midland RockHounds. The Hooks were overpowered by Midland starter C.J. Tasker, who hurled his club to victory, 10-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Brandon Wood said. Over 9 innings, Tasker blanked Corpus Christi on 5 hits with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Tasker said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." Up to now Tasker has compiled an ERA of 4.24 with a 6-2 mark over 14 starts. He has 66 strikeouts in 85 innings and has held opponents to a .280 batting average. View Boxscore View Game Log |
