Vazquez Holds Richmond Scoreless
Wednesday, May 16th , 2046
Mario Vazquez was in a zone of his own most of the day, shutting out the Richmond Flying Squirrels on 3 hits.
"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled Richmond manager John Hester after the 6-0 loss to the Trenton Thunder.
Vazquez finished with 6 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.
In the postgame press conference, Trenton manager Zac Livingston said Vazquez "had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. He just pitched his butt off."
This year, Vazquez has a 4-0 mark in 8 starts with a 3.27 ERA. He has given up 45 hits in 52.1 innings, struck out 41 and issued 22 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .232 batting average against him.
