Postseason Bid Ends for Seattle Saturday, September 22nd , 2040 A late-season playoff push is not in the cards for the Seattle Mariners. The club today was mathematically knocked out of playoff contention. "There are a lot of long faces around right now," said Mariners manager Owen Spiwak. "You know in your head that every year, most teams in baseball have to go through this, but it still hurts when you realize you've lost your shot at a title." The Mariners have missed the playoffs 58 times in their 64 years as a Major League Baseball franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 9th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2031. In the last 10 seasons, the Mariners have only made the playoffs once. |
