Thompson Touches All Bases, Hits for Cycle
Sunday, September 16th , 2040
In an outing that will go down in the annals of baseball history, Arizona right fielder Dan Thompson hit for the cycle today as the Diamondbacks marched to victory over the San Diego Padres, 10-7.

Thompson collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, including 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. He added 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored to help Arizona take the Petco Park contest.

"It was the last thing on my mind, really," Thompson said. "I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Even if I had wanted to, hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill anyway."

Dan Thompson hit a two-run home run off Julio Muneton in the 1st, tripled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and doubled in the 9th.

This year Thompson is hitting .286 with 48 home runs and 125 RBIs in 145 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .400 with 101 walks and 102 runs scored.
