Pirates Prevail, as Division Series Goes to the Wire Sunday, April 24th, 2022 The Division Series went the distance before it all was said and done. The Bay Port Pirates and the South Mecklenburg Sabres went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Flyers Ballpark, the winner was the Pirates. They put away South Mecklenburg 7-1 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the League Championship Series. For his fine play, even in a losing effort, South Mecklenburg catcher Dante Williams was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .421, scored 8 runs and batted in 4 to win the honor. "It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said. The Bay Port Pirates will play against the San Angelo Central Bobcats in the next round. San Angelo Central won their series against the Wheatland Lobos 3 games to 2. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes. View Boxscore |
