Sarasota Moves on to League Championship Series Saturday, April 23rd, 2022 The Sarasota Sailors are bound for the League Championship Series. A 8-7 win over the Vero Beach Indians at Acorns Ballpark ended the Division Series, 3-1. "We're not trying to get ahead of ourselves, but it's hard not to get pumped up and excited and think about how this season could end," said Chris Gartrell. "This could be the biggest celebration Sarasota has ever seen if we can win the World Series." The state of the High School Baseball League championship remains in doubt, but the Sailors certainly appear to be strong contenders. Gartrell was named MVP of the Division Series after he posted a .500 batting average, while adding 4 home runs, driving in 8 RBI and scoring 5 runs. The Sarasota Sailors don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Jefferson Dragons - Rancho Bernardo Broncos series. Jefferson leads the series 2 games to 1.
