Mike Vinson was just plain nasty on the mound today, overpowering the Cincinnati Reds in a complete game no-hitter.

The right-hander used his signature fastball to perfection as the New York Yankees waltzed to a 8-0 win.

"He was what the kids call 'filthy,'" losing manager Bobby Wernes said later.

In a dominant performance, Vinson faced 28 batters in all and finished the game with 9 strikeouts and 1 walk.

"After the first couple of innings, I knew I had some good stuff going," Vinson said. "In the bullpen, it really wasn't that good, to be honest. But when I got out on the mound and flipped the switch, I had some pretty good stuff."
