The Seattle Mariners topped the Houston Astros, 10-7, in American League action at Minute Maid Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Seattle shortstop Jake Beasley. Nate Chesser was the winner. He's now 1-0. The loser was 31-year old left-handed pitcher Jim Eschner. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Johnny Ocampo.

Seattle used the hitting of David Herrera to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Mariners on top, 3-2. For the game, Herrera had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Seattle skipper Dexter Rousseau.

Houston drops to 1-2.
