Love Bashes 5 Base Hits
|
After a 5-hit effort to lead Jackson's 8-7 victory over the Birmingham Barons, right fielder Ed Love told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Southern League-level is really something special."
The 24-year-old player earned his accolades at Regions Field with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Barons.
"His swing is getting there," said Generals skipper Reid Gorecki, who spoke glowingly of Love after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Ed did that to perfection."
Ed Love hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
Love is hitting .262 so far this season with 15 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He has 28 hits including 2 home runs, 6 walks and .307 OBP.
