Kansas City got a strong outing from Jim Davis as the Royals defeated the Boston Red Sox, 2-1, at Kauffman Stadium. The winner in relief was Jonathan Ortiz. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. He now owns a record of 2-2. The Royals improved their record to 59-77 with the win over Boston.

The decisive blow was delivered in the bottom of the ninth when Joe Huggins hit a run-scoring double off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Malik Milling to win the game for Kansas City. The home crowd went wild.
