New York's Garza Hammers #300
|
Milwaukee defeated New York today 3-2 and took some of the joy out of Daniel Garza's 300th career home run.
"I just wanted to get a good swing on the ball all day," Garza said. "And I did."
Despite the loss, it was a good game for the 32-year-old Mets center fielder. He had 1 hit, scored 1 run and had 2 RBI.
The Brewers manager said, "You could see he was aggressive up there. The worst thing we did was throw him a strike. It probably would have been better if we threw the ball outside of the strike zone every time he came to the plate because he seemed like he was in a hurry to get it over with."
Garza has played in 1224 games with a .283 lifetime batting average. Among his 1378 hits are 195 doubles, 7 triples and 300 home runs. He has also scored 759 runs and driven in 810 runs.
