Twins Nipped, 3-1, by Kansas City
|
The Kansas City Royals got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jeff Nelson, who muffled the Minnesota offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Royals win at Target Field. The winner in relief was Mike Benson. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 4-4. The win gives Kansas City a season record of 60-55.
In the top of the eighth, Kansas City got a clutch hit from Sean Olson. The pinch hitter belted a solo home run, putting the Royals up, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a decisive one.
"Every loss stings," said Minnesota manager Joshua Hester. "This one is no exception."
