The Minnesota Twins faced a tough opponent in Kansas City pitcher Phil Evans, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Kauffman Stadium by a final score of 4-3. Evans went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. J.D. Newman, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits. The win puts the Twins at 54-45, while the Royals drop to 43-56.

Minnesota used a clutch hit from Kevin Kraft to get the win. The first baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Twins ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Kraft told the Minnesota Herald.
