Kauffman Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians.
The Cleveland Indians got a stellar performance from pitcher Les Williams, who handcuffed the Kansas City offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Kauffman Stadium. Williams went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. His record improves to 6-8. Jake Stiles earned the save, his 20th in 23 tries.
Cleveland relied on the bat of Eric Giovinazzo to get the win. The first baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Indians ahead, 2-1. For the game, Giovinazzo had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
