Texas Loses, 9-4, in 10
|
The Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers played into extra innings before the winner was determined. The Astros won it, 9-4, in 10 innings. In the game, Houston right fielder Tony Villarreal went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 doubles, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The American League West Division-leading Astros are 53-40.
Eric Turnquist came through with a big-time hit for Houston. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 6-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Astros manager Pat McCrory.
