Reds Take Down Rockies, 3-2
|
The Cincinnati Reds took Colorado pitcher Jeremy Waugh's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Great American Ball Park. The final score had Cincinnati getting past the Rockies, 3-2. Waugh went 6 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 9. Cincinnati reliever Doug Brown picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Mike Williams took the loss. Marc McPartland earned his 9th save in 9 tries.
The Reds beat the Rockies in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Elias Cotto produced in the bottom of the eighth. Batting against Howard, Cotto gave his team a 3-2 lead when he hit a run-scoring double.
Cotto told a Cincinnati News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
After today's action, Cincinnati sits at 44-45; Colorado slips to 63-27.
