Cardinals Pocket 3-2 Win Against Detroit
|
The St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The Detroit Tigers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Ian Adams into a win. Instead, the St. Louis Cardinals prevailed, 3-2. Adams threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Bill Pye finished to wrap up his 16th save.
The Cardinals got a big hit from designated hitter Jonathan Carter. Facing Detroit pitcher Tony Maldonado in the bottom of the sixth, Carter pounded a 2-run double to left. His 7th double of the season put the Cardinals ahead, 3-1.
In postgame remarks, Carter hailed his team's "grit."
St. Louis now owns a record of 35-50.
