Rockies Deal Giants Painful Loss
|
Colorado first baseman Erik LaPoint played a vital role in his team's 10-9 triumph over San Francisco. He was 4-5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for Colorado. Colorado reliever Jon Pool was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Jeff Olvera took the loss. The Rockies, at 51-23, have a comfortable 14-game lead in their division.
When he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, Danny Diaz had a chance to end it. San Francisco pitcher Jeff Olvera had other ideas. But with two outs, Diaz drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Rockies had the win.
"Ugly win or not, we'll take it," said LaPoint.
