Bees Heading to Round 2
|
The Burlington Bees didn't hold back their excitement after beating the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in the Round 1 tonight.
Members of the team rushed onto the field and celebrated joyously when the victory became official, with a 7-3 win moving the club on to the Round 2, clinching a 3-1 series win in front of the Community Field crowd.
"This isn't the big one, but of course we need to get through this before we can win a Round 2, so it's an important step," said Tommy Groover as he took a break from celebrating. "Our guys are happy and excited to be moving on."
Groover was named series MVP, as he hit .500 with a .526 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 8 RBI and scored 5 runs.
On the other side of the diamond, there was desolation. Many members of the Timber Rattlers sat stone-faced in their dugouts, simply watching Burlington celebrate.
The Burlington Bees will play against the Lake County Captains in the next round. Lake County won their series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods 3 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
