Blue Jays Rally to Nose Past New York
|
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Yankee Stadium.
The Toronto Blue Jays earned a close win over the New York Yankees, thanks in part to Mike Doyne. The Toronto right-hander played a key role in the 11-inning, 3-2 victory. At 29-40, the Blue Jays claim last place in the American League East Division.
Toronto used a timely hit from Chris Howes to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it made an impact.
In postgame remarks, Howes said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
