Mariners Down Nationals, 9-7
The Seattle Mariners topped the Washington Nationals, 9-7, with third baseman Orlando Ferral playing a big role. Ferral was 1 for 2 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Mariners in the win. David Atencio recorded the save for Seattle, his 2nd of the season. Seattle is third in the American League West Division with a record of 32-36.

Ferral had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a 1-1 changeup from Joe Pride, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Mariners a 9-7 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Ferral.

Mariners manager Owen Spiwak wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
