By a score of 5-4, the Philadelphia (GCL) Phillies have sealed a victory in the Round 1 over the Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays.

"We knew we would be in for a tough series and that's what we got," said right fielder Josh Smyth of the Phillies, who was named the series MVP. "The Rays knew how to battle and gave us a good test."

The next test for Philadelphia (GCL) will come in the Round 2, after winning this series 4-2.

The Philadelphia (GCL) Phillies don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the New York N (GCL) Mets - Boston (GCL) Red Sox series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
