Kiptoo on Fire: 5-for-6 for Westonaria
After a 5-hit effort to lead Westonaria's 5-4 victory over the Wolmaranstad Cowboys, first baseman Mezegebu Kiptoo told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the South Africa Rookie Baseball-level is really something special."

The 25-year-old player earned his accolades at Cardinals Stadium with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Cowboys.

"His swing is getting there," said Cardinals skipper Alan Johnson, who spoke glowingly of Kiptoo after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Mezegebu did that to perfection."

Mezegebu Kiptoo singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, grounded out in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 10th.

Kiptoo is hitting .377 this year with 14 home runs and 53 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .435, 31 walks and scored 73 times.
