Luis Nova exploded for a barrage of base hits at MCU Park.

The Brooklyn first baseman had a field day in his team's 27-2 triumph over the Vermont Lake Monsters, finishing 5-for-6.

"My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."

Nova must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Luis Nova hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Robby Simmons in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th and struck out in the 6th.

Thus far this season in 31 games, Nova is batting .451 with 7 home runs, 29 RBIs and 26 runs scored. He has 46 hits in 102 at-bats.
