Kansas City got a strong outing from Nate Chase as the Royals defeated the Detroit Tigers, 4-1, at Kauffman Stadium. With the victory, the Royals upped their record to 32-29.

Steve Dalton came through for Kansas City when he hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, he hit a two-strike cutter to center field, staking his team to a 2-1 lead.

"Nate throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Kansas City manager Ryokan Kobayashi.
