Valadez Slugs 3 Homers, Tigers Get 7-4 Win
|
The Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians, 7-4, at Progressive Field. Alex Valadez, in particular, was impressive. He belted 3 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored three times. Max Knutson Jr. got the win, improving to 3-0. He worked 5 innings, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Detroit is 29-31 and Cleveland, with the loss, 31-28.
Detroit took the lead in the top of the fifth when Valadez hit a 3-run home run. His 21st home run of the season made the score 6-3, Detroit.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Valadez told the Detroit Herald. "It's as simple as that."
