Diamondbacks Drop Contest, 4-3, to Washington
|
The Washington Nationals dealt the Arizona Diamondbacks a 4-3 loss at Chase Field. Josh McNatt was the star on offense. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. Joe Curtis, the winning pitcher, is now 2-4. He went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 10 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 2. Josh Stewart earned the save for Washington, his 1st of the year.
Washington used the timely hitting of Mario Candelas to capture the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Nationals on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but he made it count.
After the game, Washington manager Mike Bell applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
Washington is now 21-31, Arizona 27-24.
