Giants Knock Off Twins, 5-2
|
The San Francisco Giants got a strong performance from pitcher Marcus Reis, who stymied the Minnesota offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Oracle Park. Reis, now 4-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Jeff Olvera got the save, the 12th for him this season.
Josh Buechner hit a run-scoring double off Joe Koopman in the bottom of the first, which put the Giants in front, 1-0. In addition to the double, Buechner had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"We'll savor this win," Reis told the San Francisco Herald, "then get ready for the next game."
San Francisco is now 18-25.
