Citi Field hosted a real pitchers' duel.

New York got an elite performance from starting pitcher Mike Pugh in taking a 2-0 decision over the Tampa Bay Rays. Chris Bell earned the save, his 9th, for the Mets.

Pugh, a native of Leesburg, Florida, was dealing all game. He kept Tampa Bay hitters off-balance, while giving the Mets 8 quality innings. Pugh threw 124 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 12.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said New York skipper Darwin Barney.

With the win, the Mets improved to 26-13.
