Elizabethton Twins center fielder Ian Beverly had a day to remember at Joe O'Brien Field, ripping apart the State College Spikes and sparking the 18-0 Twins win.

Beverly wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.

"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Beverly told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."

Ian Beverly hit a solo-shot off Willie Bustos in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

Beverly is hitting .378 in 2041 with 29 RBIs and 6 home runs.
