Harper Hurls West Virginia to Shutout Victory
Mike Harper was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the West Virginia Power hurler tossed a 4-hit, complete game shutout against the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

"I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Harper. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings."

Harper walked 0 and struck out 12 in the 7-0 victory.

This season, Harper has a 3-2 mark in 9 starts with a 1.87 ERA. He has given up 61 hits in 67.1 innings, struck out 73 and issued 8 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .239 batting average against him.
