The Atlanta Braves beat the Cincinnati Reds, 5-3. Atlanta pitcher and Cincinnati, Ohio, native Ricky Darty led the way. In 8 innings, Darty surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Pete Paxton was called on to finish, recording his 11th save.

The Braves benefited from a costly error in the top of the sixth. With Adan Eisterhold at bat and Atlanta leading 3-2, the Cincinnati miscue allowed Atlanta to plate 1 and take the lead, 4-2.

In comments to the Atlanta Times, Darty insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
