Perfect Game by Bratt
Monday, August 9th , 2021
Gilbert Gottfrieds starter Mitch Bratt spun a perfect game today against the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

The 18-year-old was impeccable in the 2-0 victory at Hustlers Ballpark, not allowing a single baserunner.

"I don't know what to say," he said in a postgame press conference. "I didn't do anything different in this game. Really. I just pitched the ball and everyone did what they had to do and somewhere along the way, fate stepped in and took control."

Bratt retired 27 in a row, fanning 17 of them.

"I was very aware I was working on a perfect game from the sixth inning on," he said. "But it didn't faze me because I really didn't expect to pitch one. I was worrying about winning, not trying for a perfect game."

This year Bratt has worked 38.2 innings with 51 strikeouts en route to a 1-1 record and a 0.93 ERA.
