Hemphill Delivers Walk-Off Win for Rams
The Denver Rams faced a tough opponent in Philadelphia pitcher Red Ames, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Mile High Ballpark by a final score of 6-5. Ames went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Doc Newton came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Denver center fielder Charlie Hemphill, facing Clay Holmes, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Rams the 6-5 win.
