Seals Victorious at San Francisco, 2-1
|
San Diego picked up a win at Missions Point Park, bumping off the San Francisco Missions, 2-1. Pitcher Rube Waddell was a major reason the Seals emerged victorious. The winner was Waddell. He threw 8.0 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Bob Rhoads. Ned Garvin picked up the save for San Diego, his 7th of the year.
The Seals got a big at-bat from left fielder Aaron Judge. For the game, Judge was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. In the top of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 12th home run of the season gave San Diego a 1-0 lead.
"I executed the game plan," said Waddell.
The win puts the Seals at 18-21, while the Missions drop to 19-20.
