Stevedores Win at Seattle, 5-3
|
The Cleveland Stevedores topped the Seattle Rainiers, 5-3, in Federal League action at Rainiers Field. The standout performance belonged to Cleveland pitcher and Valencia, Venezuela, native Eduardo Rodriguez. Rodriguez, now 6-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing 3 runs. Edwin Diaz collected his 16th save.
Cleveland used the clutch hitting of Jazz Chisholm to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Stevedores the lead, 4-1. For the game, Chisholm had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Chisholm told the Cleveland Bulletin.
Seattle's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
