Dukes Lose at Home, 4-0
|
Starting pitcher Shane McClanahan was a major factor in the 4-0 Detroit Wolverines triumph over the Brooklyn Dukes. The save was credited to Jack Flaherty, his 2nd. Detroit goes to 49-29. The win puts them 2½ games up in their division.
Detroit used a well-timed hit by Gunnar Henderson to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Wolverines ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Henderson said his team "played with focus and determination."
