Monarchs Lose Late to Empire Builders
Minnesota and Kansas City duked it out and the Empire Builders came out victorious.

The Minnesota Empire Builders weathered a fine game by Kansas City left fielder Ronald Acuna to upend the Monarchs, 8-6, at The Hill Mansion. Acuna went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win belonged to Daniel Espino in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Hurston Waldrep took the loss for Kansas City.

The Empire Builders got a big hit from right fielder Seiya Suzuki. In the bottom of the eighth, Suzuki smacked a bases-clearing double off Kansas City pitcher Hurston Waldrep. It was his 11th double of the season. Suddenly, the Empire Builders were ahead, 7-6.

"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Suzuki. "Obviously."

The Empire Builders saw their win-loss record go to 33-42. At the same time, the Monarchs fell to 27-48.
