Flyers Waste Great Game from Green
|
St. Louis center fielder Joe Green had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Green went 3-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice, even as Boston beat the Flyers, 8-5. Bill Donovan picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-1. He struck out 6 in 8.2 innings. With the win, Boston pushed its record to 28-18.
In the top of the eighth, Boston first baseman Tom McCreery had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, McCreery stroked a 2-run single to right-center. It made the score 5-2, Boston. For the game, he went 3-5 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
