Alfonso Rivas sparked his Reading Switchmen past the pesky San Antonio Colt .45s in a closely-contested Round 1.

Reading topped San Antonio 7-3 at Huns Field at Camden Yards to decide the series, 3-1

For his efforts, Rivas was rewarded with the series MVP trophy for his .385 batting average, 7 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

"You never want to leave anything on the field," Rivas said. "You never want to miss a play of defense you could have made, or give up an extra base you could have gotten, because in a series this tight you never know what you'll need to win."

The Reading Switchmen will play against the Santo Domingo Las Aperturas in the next round. Santo Domingo won their series against the Moreno Valley Screaming Eagles 3 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
