Season May Be Over for Cubs Oppelt Sunday, August 7th , 2039 A blow for Mike Oppelt today -- team doctors confirmed he will miss 4-5 months with bone chips in his elbow. Oppelt suffered the injury throwing a pitch. Although officials from the Iowa Cubs are confident he'll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about Oppelt's ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature. To date this year, Oppelt shows a 3-6 record, 13 starts, 89 innings, 84 strikeouts and a 4.15 ERA. |
