Shaffer Stretches Hit String to 20 Sunday, August 28th , 2039 The Los Angeles Angels may have proven to be mere mortals as they lost, 6-3, to the Boston Red Sox, but Billy Shaffer continued to hit like a god. The first baseman collected 1 hit in 4 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. "Shaffer is playing great and is on fire right now," Angels manager Nick The G said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." Shaffer was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Billy Shaffer grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Joe Gregory in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th. Shaffer is batting .303 with 41 home runs and 107 RBIs this season. |
